Hello,
This is our family’s web log. We’re blogging! We’re going to start with the beginning of our summer activities. In the beginning of June, we went camping in Door County Peninsula State Park. This is the perfect time of year to camp. It was sunny and in the 70s during the daytime and in the 50s at night (brrr.). Perfect weather. Here are some pictures of our campsite.
On Friday, we took the ferry to Washington Island and biked around the island. We enjoyed the farm museum, showing a farm from the 1800s. We were only there a few hours, but it was a lot of fun. The boys particularly enjoyed the ferry boat ride. It was the day after a storm, so there were big waves on Lake Michigan.
Unfortunately, Chris and Alex came down with a flu-like bug Friday night and for the rest of the weekend. That was awful! We did manage to do a couple more fun things though. The boys and I went to the nature center to learn about wolves and bears in Door County(!)…not anymore though. Ian and Alex dug for worms for the tank of fish. They thought the worms were yummy! You had to watch closely because they ate them really quick! We also climbed to the top of the tower. It was a little scary because of how high it is and how windy it was.
At the end of June, we went strawberry picking again at JenEhr farms where they have organic strawberries. Yummm! Nana and Papa helped. We picked more than 30 pounds total! I spent the rest of the day stemming berries and canning low-sugar jam–18 jars, plus whole strawberries for the freezer. Mmmm, daiquiries.
